Dad in kid mix-up gets big legal bill

The Border Mail, November 7, 2006

A MELBOURNE man who paid child support for children who turned out not to be his has now been ordered to pay “massive” legal costs to the Commonwealth.

Liam Neale Magill, 56, recently lost his bid for compensation for psychological damages he claims he suffered at the hands of the Child Support Agency.

Yesterday he was ordered to pay the agency’s legal fees. more..

The increasing ability to analyze fetal DNA from maternal blood should lead to better prenatal diagnoses of genetic disease—and confront future parents with tough information and choices.

...Ready or not, noninvasive fetal diagnosis is here. Tests based on fetal DNA circulating in a woman’s blood are expected to replace invasive prenatal tests, such as amniocentesis, that are typically done later in pregnancy and pose a small risk of miscarriage. Researchers have already used fetal DNA from maternal blood to successfully
test for genes inherited from a father that cause diseases such as cystic fibrosis.....

96% of women are liars, honest

The Scotsman ( Scotland's National Newspaper),  EDWARD BLACK, December 9th, 2004

NINETEEN out of 20 women admit lying to their partners or husbands, a survey on attitudes to truth and relationships has found.

Eighty-three per cent owned up to telling "big, life-changing lies", with 13 per cent saying they did so frequently.

Half said that if they became pregnant by another man but wanted to stay with their partner, they would lie about the baby’s real father.

Forty-two per cent would lie about contraception in order to get pregnant, no matter the wishes of their partner.
